Welcome

Sports and athletic endeavors promote lasting benefits in health, wellness,
and emotional development for millions of regular participants worldwide.
These activities also involve varying levels of risk to the body.  Respecting and understanding this potential are key to an athlete’s long-term success, both within and beyond a sports career.

In our current sports culture, blows to the head are not always given the
attention they deserve.  However, recent medical research is helping us better
understand how concussions and repetitive trauma to the brain can have
dramatic consequences that may not be revealed for decades.

The Sports Legacy Institute is dedicated to studying the effects of concussions

and other sports related brain injuries.  Through its efforts, SLI aims to
maximize the safety and vitality of all athletes who participate in contact and
collision sports around the globe.
